AREOLA REDUCTION

Areola reduction (also known as periareolar reduction) is a procedure designed to reduce the diameter of an enlarged areola, restoring a size and proportion that better complements the breast. Areola enlargement can occur due to genetics, hormonal changes, pregnancy and breastfeeding, significant weight fluctuation, or as a natural part of ageing. It can affect one or both breasts and may be accompanied by changes in areola shape or symmetry.

The procedure and recovery:

Areola reduction involves removing a section of skin around the areola's outer edge, with the remaining skin drawn together to create a smaller, more proportionate areola. The procedure can often be performed under local or general anaesthesia depending on the extent of correction and whether it's combined with other surgery. Following the procedure, you'll receive detailed aftercare instructions to support healing and minimise scarring.
