ROSACEA

ROSACEA

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that primarily affects the face, causing persistent redness, visible blood vessels, and, in some cases, bumps or pustules resembling acne. It's a common but often misunderstood condition that can significantly impact confidence, and while there is no outright cure, rosacea can be effectively managed with the right combination of clinical treatment and ongoing care.

At LIFE X CLINICS, rosacea management begins with a thorough skin assessment to identify your specific subtype, triggers, and severity, allowing us to build a treatment plan suited to your individual presentation.

Understanding the different types of rosacea:

Rosacea can present in several distinct ways, and many patients experience a combination of subtypes:

  • Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea — persistent facial redness (erythema) and visible small blood vessels (telangiectasia), often with flushing
  • Papulopustular rosacea — redness accompanied by acne-like bumps and pustules, sometimes mistaken for acne
  • Phymatous rosacea — thickening of the skin, most commonly affecting the nose, resulting in a enlarged, bumpy texture
  • Ocular rosacea — affecting the eyes, causing redness, irritation, dryness, or a gritty sensation, often requiring co-management with an eye care specialist

Our treatment approach:

Because rosacea varies significantly between patients, treatment is tailored to your specific subtype and severity, and may include:

  • Microneedling — used to support overall skin barrier function and improve skin texture and resilience, which can help reduce sensitivity and reactivity over time
  • IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) — targets visible blood vessels and redness associated with erythematotelangiectatic rosacea, helping to reduce the appearance of flushing and vascular redness
  • Medical intervention — for patients with more persistent or inflammatory presentations, referral for prescription-based treatment may be recommended alongside in-clinic care
  • Laser therapy — reserved for more prominent or persistent vascular lesions that don't respond adequately to IPL or other methods, offering more targeted treatment of stubborn blood vessels

Managing triggers:

Alongside in-clinic treatment, identifying and managing personal triggers plays an important role in long-term rosacea management. Common triggers include sun exposure, temperature extremes, spicy food, alcohol, stress, and certain skincare ingredients. Part of your consultation will involve discussing your personal triggers and how to minimise flare-ups between treatments.

Your consultation:

Every rosacea treatment plan begins with a complimentary skin consultation with Renee , where your skin is assessed to determine your rosacea subtype, severity, and any contributing triggers. From there, a treatment plan is built specifically around your presentation, with realistic expectations set for improvement over time.

A personalised approach:

Rosacea affects everyone differently, which is why treatment at LIFE X CLINICS is never one-size-fits-all. Our clinical team works closely with each patient to manage both the visible symptoms and underlying triggers of rosacea, supporting long-term skin health and confidence.
